Kamakura★

I went to Kamakura with my friend. We went to Tsurugaoka-hachiman shrine, Kotokuin, and Hase temple. I guided my friend around Kamakura. This time was different from before because I usually guide foreign tourists as activities of ESS.

Moreover, we tried a slow food restaurant, "a Riccione". It was first time for me to try slow food. I liked pasta. It was very delicious. Please try this restaurant when you go to Kamakura, and have enough time.

It was enjoyable, but it was very hot, so you should take mesures against heat when you go to Kamakura.

Harry Potter finale sales hit 11m

The seventh and final Harry Potter book has broken sales records on both sides of the Atlantic, selling 11 million copies in its first 24 hours.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold 2.7 million copies in the UK and 8.3 million in the US.

The previous record for the fastest-selling book was held by the sixth Harry Potter novel, which sold nine million in its first day in 2005.

The long-awaited climax to JK Rowling's series was released on Saturday.

It was published simultaneously in more than 90 countries.

UK publisher Bloomsbury said: "The response of the first readers to the seventh and final Harry Potter book has been wonderful.

"We're grateful to all our printers, distributors and retailers worldwide for the most astoundingly successful book launch ever, and to JK Rowling for the most triumphant close to a magnificent series."

A decade after the first instalment, the running total for Harry Potter book sales was already at 325 million even before the seventh novel came out.

Author JK Rowling launched the final instalment with a reading session at the Natural History Museum in London, and signed 250 copies an hour for fans between midnight and 0630 BST.

Tens of thousands of devotees - many dressed as wizards and witches - turned up to midnight launch parties at 280 branches of book chain Waterstone's, while many more took part in release parties all over the world.

“My favorite Japanese food restaurant in Kamakura!”

I recommend “Misui” as a good Japanese food restaurant. It is near “Komachi street”, so it is easily accessible. Moreover, the price is reasonable, and dishes are delicious. There are noodles, tempura, and big bowls on the menu.

The National Art Center Tokyo☆

I went to the museum with my younger sister. We go to a museum occasionally. My sister goes to a museum from Gumma which is my hometown, and I go there from Kanagawa. Therefore, it is a chance which we can see each other.

This time the display which is named European still-life painting from the Kunsthistorisches museum Wien is held. There are 75 works in the museum.

I like this museum because it is new, and near to Nogizaka Station. Moreover, I thought the works were very realistic and beautiful.

If you have a time, please go to the museum!
This display is held until Sep. 15.

Guide

On July 12, I went to Kamakura with 2 members of ESS. It was very hot.
I went there because I guided foreign tourists.

We could guide 2 Polish women. They are zealous for Japanese tradition and culture. They are interested in Japanese style wedding ceremony, and question about it. Finally, they gave us their e-mail addresses so that our English skills will be improved. I think they are very kind :-) And I think I want to imitate their interest in foreign cultures and study Japanese culture more.

It is very meaningful for me to guide foreign tourists like this!!

Travel☆Italy -- Markets

We can buy leather products cheap in the market in Italy. Besides, we can buy scarves, but we should check the quality!

Moreover, we can get foods in the market, for example, vegetables, fruits, and homemade pasta. They look delicious :-)

After the movie, we discussed the topic about this movie. It was very interesting for me because I could try to tell my opinion and listen to others' opinion.

Moreover, after this discussion, I went to see a movie. The movie was "Hana yori dango final". The story was fun, so please see it!

I could see two movies yesterday!!

My Favorite Thing

Today, I write about my favorite thing! It is my lip gloss. My friend who has the same part-time job gave it to me as a souvenir. I like it because the design is very cute, and the perfume is good! It contains small flowers. These flowers move in natural oil. It looks pretty!! Besides this, it smells like a watermelon.

Though I have used it since last year, I would like to use it little by little. Moreover, when I use this lip gloss, my feeling comes good! Therefore, I will utilize it when I feel down because of exams.

RECITATION CONTEST♪

On June 21, RECITATION CONTEST was held. This contest is an activity of ESS. Every year, freshmen of ESS memorize the speech, and perform. This activity is the gateway to enter ESS! Freshmen make efforts to memorize the speech, and improve the performance.

There were 3 speeches, "I Have a Dream." addressed by Martin Luther King Jr., "Smile at Each Other" addressed by Mother Teresa, and "Responding to Landmines" addressed by Princess Diana this year. Each freshman chose a speech from 3 speeches. Everyone contrived original expressions and gestures, so every performance was different.

Moreover, members of sophomore and junior performed the dance at the end of this contest as entertainment, and after this contest, welcome party was held!

I think this contest was very good because freshmen made efforts, and other members cooperated to complete this contest.

I Am Sam

The movie I want to watch is I Am Sam. Here are some reviews:

Brandt Sponseller from New York City:“...Finally, the film has a great message. Does parenting, or general personal worth, really hinge on intellectual ability and amassed knowledge? I don't think so....Plenty of us had parents who were smart enough but couldn't help us with our geometry homework. Love may not be all you need, but it's definitely one of the major prerequisites.”

sddavis63 (revsdd@gmail.com) from Ontario, Canada:“...The movie weakens in the last little bit, going for the sappy (and highly unrealistic) ending - unrealistic particularly in the way Lucy's foster mother (Laura Dern) ends up handling the situation....”

Ben_Cheshire from Oz:"...Its also a very touching film - the relation between Sam and Lucy (in a remarkable child-star performance from Dakota Fanning, who knew how to relate to Sam from having a relation like him in real life) is one of those special things in moviedom, for me at least...."

I want to watch this movie through I read these reviews! I think I want to be moved. However, one thing I worry is some authors of reviews say this movie is unrealistic. I want to try to watch this movie, check that, and consider what messages this movie has.

MOVIE

*****, living in Oxford's Jordan College, is not but a young girl living among scholars. Her world may seem diverse, from physical embodiments of souls that take the shape of an animal, but similar with people around you to become friends and enemies. She is thrown into a perilous adventure when she overhears a conversation of an extraordinary microscopic particle, Dust. This particle is said to unite different worlds, and is feared by many who want to destroy it forever. As ***** is flung into the middle of this horrible struggle, she meets wondrous creatures both big and small, and villains who are not what they seem. Gobblers, that kidnap children, will turn out in the most unexpected places. And a magical compass of gold that will answer any question if one is skilled enough to read it. *****'s adventure continues throughout these three books, and the first is about to be told. Written by Reaz

Please guess this movie's name.

CAKE♪

I ate a cake because I was tired and wanted to eat something sweet. There are many nice cake shops near Shonandai station, so I often buy a cake there. The cake shop that I bought a cake this time was Ashi. This shop is very near to Syonandai station. We can take out and also eat in the shop. This time I took out.

There were many cakes that looked delicious, so I hesitated which cake I chose. Finally, I chose mont-blanc because I like it best of all. It was very good! It was composed of full of cream. If you have a chance to come to Shonandai, please try it!

DINNER

I went out for dinner with my friends after classes. We went to “Sushitama” in Yokohama, and ate sushi. This restaurant has the course that we can eat sushi as much as we like, so we chose this course.

I like sushi, especially sea urchin and tuna, so I ate a lot of them. Though we could eat as much as we like, it was very delicious. Moreover, sushi was made after the order, so it was fresh.

This course is 3500 yen. I think this price is not cheap for university students, but this restaurant serves delicious sushi. Therefore, I think it valuable, and I want to go to this restaurant again.

I recommend you to try this restaurant and this course. “Sushitama” is in 6th floor of LUMINE. Please try it!
